The Chinese Consul General Attends Unveiling of AiFei Chinese School Festac Branch

September 8, 2025, will be remembered as a landmark day in the history of AiFei Chinese School, as the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos honored the school with her presence at the unveiling ceremony of its Festac branch and its new official name — AiFei Chinese School.

The event attracted over 60 participants, including government representatives, business leaders, teachers, and students. It was a colourful and symbolic moment that highlighted the school’s growing impact on education, cultural exchange, and youth empowerment in Nigeria.

In her remarks, Consul General Yan praised AiFei Chinese School for its invaluable contributions to promoting Chinese language learning and spreading Chinese culture in Nigeria. She emphasized that under the framework of the China-Nigeria comprehensive strategic partnership, both nations have reaped fruitful results in cooperation. She further highlighted President Xi Jinping’s global governance initiative as a roadmap for building a community with a shared future for mankind, stressing that China remains committed to working with Nigeria to ensure peace, prosperity, and progress.

The ceremony was enriched with cultural performances, including a Chinese song and crosstalk presentation by students. The Consul General herself delivered the first lecture of the new semester and gifted the students’ panda paintings, Chinese knots, and study journals — a gesture that left the learners deeply inspired. Teacher representatives also expressed their commitment to strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between China and Nigeria through education.

Dr. Efe Yahaya-Shuaibu, Chairman of AiFei Chinese School, expressed gratitude to the Consul General for her support and assured that the school will remain steadfast in its mission of bridging cultures, promoting excellence in Mandarin Chinese education, and empowering young Nigerians with global opportunities.

The event also served as a clarion call to students and the wider community. Attendees were encouraged to spread the word by inviting friends, colleagues, classmates, and neighbours to enrol at AiFei Chinese School and become part of this great movement. With its Festac branch now unveiled, the school is set to expand its influence and open doors for more Nigerians to engage in meaningful China-Nigeria cultural exchange.
